About the Artist
Jenna Leigh has always been an artist. As a child she drew constantly; illustrating stories, sketching what inspired her, and coloring in all the margins of her school notebooks. Though, ironically, she always hated to paint, preferring pencil and paper over pigment and canvas.
She studied Italian Languages and Culture, as well as Art History at the University of Rhode Island. At the age of 21, Jenna spent a semester wandering the streets of Florence, Italy, home to one of the world’s greatest collections of Renaissance art and architecture. Michelangelo’s David, Brunelleschi’s Dome, and one of the Medici’s greatest legacies; the Uffizi Gallery, helped to cultivate her artistic sensibilities.
As she entered the professional world, she turned towards other creative ventures, taking on roles in visual merchandising and interior design. It was not until the pandemic, when she took a year off to stay home with her young daughter, that she rediscovered painting, and fell in love. Afternoons spent in lock-down with her daughter, Charlotte, and a simple child’s painting kit to pass the time rekindled her love for graphic arts. At first she painted for Charlotte, but was thrilled when her daughter’s delight at each painting spread to her family and friends. The world took on new wonder again as she realized “She could paint that.” Fascinated with the beauty in the smallest details, she hopes to share that wonder through the unique perspective of her paintings.
